today....i am old

Today I turn 39.....that sounds so old. Not sure what I expected but.....

it is a beautiful sunny day here but man is it ever cold. Hauled our butts up to Matthew's soccer game but it had to be cancelled due to frozen ground. Now i sit here wasting time till i have to take taryn to erin's birthday party......

Darren is attempting to hang the christmas lights but is having some issues and consequently feels the need to drag me outside every 7-8 lights to have a discussion---just put the things up already!

You may want to sit down for this one...................................i actually have a working kitchen!!! my counters came on friday and they are beautiful!! as my friend tammy says it is obsence the way i keep molesting them. so now all that is left are the little jobs-finishing up putting handles on and the crown and baseboard-knowing darren this will take a while so in the meantime i will take what i can get. I will post pics as soon as i find my camera.

The "schedule" is now in full effect with me and darren running here, taking the trolls here and there with practices and what not. I am looking forward to a quiet weekend without any games(soccer or lacrosse)---gotta like thanksgiving.

nothing much else to report.....except for the fantastic Sonja asking me to be guest DT at the wonderful sandra's Pick of the Patch. Love the kit and now that i am finished my set of 3 I can not wait to dig into it.

I have also become a project....Sharon has decided i am "frail and fragile" since my recent bone issues so has taken it upon herself to get my fat ass to the gym. She even paid for my card to guilt me into going. It is a good thing-muscles here i come! We went today and I know she took it easy on me (thanks) but I didn't do too bad.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday weekend and think of me on Monday when you are all relaxing and i am slaving away at work....atleast i get paid extra-love those stats!!!

as if having to wear a skiboot for my ankle wasn't enough, i have now broken my toe....yup i kicked matthew and broke my little toe. okay so i didn't mean to kick him. we were walking up the stairs to taryn's dance class...he stopped-i didn't. then i proceed to squeeze my sore toe into runners for soccer practice where i hobbled around.....got home took off my shoe to find this beautiful black and purple mass........

update on life

so it would appear that I have got the cold/cough that never wants to go away, 2 weeks later after our initial meeting i am still coughing up, for lack of a better descriptive word, lung butter. Not the same shade of green but slightly lighter than when i started.

The kids are back in school which is good but with that comes the neverending schedules....dance, soccer practice, field lacrosse practice, soccer games, lacrosse games, more dance, school events, birthday parties....it never seems to end.

It amazes me how year after year people put their kids into activities and then just stand back....hello people volunteer run.....if you are seriously going to come to every practice/game and then just stand there then seriously would it kill you to help out a bit. Not my team-my parents rock however in trying to deal with all the girls teams u6-u10 I have discovered that people pretty much suck.. not everyone but most.
I am not paid to do this so please do not yell at me.
Even at school ... people have the nerve to ask me who is going to do this....that....etc.....HELLO your kids go here too, why not you??????

okay ranting over, off to attack my mountain of laundry to be folded. I do have a new plan though for socks.......i have what amounts to a laundry basket full of unmatched socks which we dig through every morning to find matches...I now have decided to throw in the towel or sock if you would have it and just throw them all out!
wastefull yes but my sanity is worth more than this i have decided.
I have also discovered that Matthew, Taryn and myself are able to all wear the same socks so that is my plan buy a batch of socks we can all wear---Darren can fend for himself of course.

ooops almost forgot my adventure. Myself and some friends from work went riverrafting. So much fun-scary at times - but well worth the fun. I think i will have to do it again.

school is starting again.......yippee on one hand but ugh on the other. Now comes the scheduling issues and the events and activitites and being pulled in 20 different directions all at once.

so my life really isn't that exciting to warrent a blog i have decided but onward i go.

i am now back at work-i actually don't mind it but really think i need to start thinking of something else i can do. I don't necessarily mean l & D because I do love it (and i think i am good at it) but I am thinking I may need a little side career to keep my brain moving. I had a great idea in January to start a pre/post natal fitness business but didn't follow through gung ho and in the end someone else is now doing it in Coquitlam---i saw their ad in Starbucks--oh well, snooze you loose!

Just for intrest sake I did some research on design school-yikes 4 yrs-not sure if I am willing to go back to school that long......I need a work from home business....let me know if anyone thinks of something besides internet porn.....

my leg is doing ok, only a few shifts when it swelled but i discovered a new use for the frozen "pads" we give the ladies for their hoo's----they fit nicely in my sock and help with the swelling.

ooops almost forgot-Taryn has been published in a scrapbooking magazine-she was paid 75$ for her layout-it is with a letter from me-one which i didn't write-let's call it creative editing-if you know me you can tell right away. Have you ever heard me use the word "inspiration" - I think not...hahhahahhaa

so it has been a while since i wrote anything......bad old me. let's see, cabinets in, oven and fridge in, waiting for counters(went with the granite) floors done.....still haven't unpacked any boxes-going with the minimalist look....

ankle has actually been feeling good, took the cast off last week and have now got the okay from dr to return to work so we will see how it goes on saturday.

Had mom's 60th bday party and now she is retired.....good friends Craig & Shauna and their kids have moved back to bc from bermuda, nice to have them back.

went to the beach today-hot hot hot- much better than the yucky rain of last week.

darren was a good husband and finished up my crafty area/room/closet for me-love it!

so a while ago i did the whole facebook thing and not too many people i know where there but now ....holy! there are a million people! i found my dear friend Muz(still crazy) and some old roomies(janet & autumn) and all the girls from work......it is funny how you find people you know on someone elses list that you didn't know they knew.......

house update: the cupboards are in - there were some missing pieces so they had to reorder and they will come back to install

summer vacation is here....

well today was the first day at home for the kids on vacation....friday was the real one but we were in a border lineup going down to the Evan's trailer.....not something i enjoy, the line up that is...3 hrs basically stopped with 4 kids trapped in a minivan......
today we waited all day for the kitchen installation guys to come only to be told that there was a mix up and they are coming tomorrow instead.....
the 7-11 down the way is the only one in canada changed to a kwik-e-mart for the simpsons promo-looks cool however very busy....
this week we don't have much planned but next week the kids are in swim camp in the afternoon so i will have fun unpacking stuff into my new kitchen/house......still need a countertop though.....

6. do not like bananas at all- so much so that i hate even giving them to my kids

FINALLY...

the drywall guy has left my house...somehow 5 days turned into 19. It reminded me of Murphy Brown and the painter guy Elvin who lived in her house....now we need to get priming then painting as the cabinets are going to be installed next week!
then the floor guy comes back on the 9th to buff, shine etc then all we need to deal with is the counters, moldings decorating etc.
i am so sick of eating out! woohoo kitchen here i come!

so......the 2 floor guys were here yesterday to finish up. Picture me upstairs on the phone when all of a sudden a BLOODcurdling scream--you can see where this is going- so i run down to find #1 taking #2 out the door in a rush. It would appear he met the saw and the saw won.....my new wood floor had blood all over it, the cement outside-bloody all over, the window had some spray.......anyhow long story short: it was the last piece of wood on the last day of work and now he won't be able to move his index finger.....cut through the tendon to the bone...he is a fireman working sidejobs laying floor.....poor guy......
on a good note my floor in finished except for the final buff and coat which they will do after the kitchen is installed.........

It has been quite some time I see...OOOOPS, bad blogger me!
Life is a bit chaotic right now, for all intents and purposes we are living upstairs.....the drywallers didn't come when they were supposed to which screwed up the kitchen and the floors so as it stands now the drywallers are still here....apparently when they say 5 days they really mean 9 and still counting....the floors are being delivered today but god knows when they can do them. All my pretty new appliances are sitting in my garage still in their boxes. My couches are outside getting wet i am sure....yep i pretty much have had enough.........
Then there is my ankle.....still wearing this lovely ski boot contraption and i am supposed to be using my crutches but i hate them so i don't. BAD patient! I am planning on bedazzling it so that may improve it......

may long weekend

you would think that the long weekend would bring about fun and frivolity.....but nope here it brings an endless stream of lacrosse games. Matthew is in a tournament so between the games and the volunteer shifts we are assigned there is not much time for anything else.

my ankle is still swollen and sore and i hobble everywhere. I went for my soccer coaching certification yesterday which was great except i had to stand on the sidelines for all the practical part which sucked and byt the end my foot was still swollen even more!!!
I go for a bone scan on friday so we will see what happens........

The house is moving oh so slowly, things weren't ready so other things had to be pushed back so still living in a mess.......

Matthew's birthday is coming up so i need to figure something out--shrek perhaps....

NIGHT TEST
Prepare by obtaining a small cloth bag and fill it with 8-12 pounds of sand. Soak it thoroughly in water. At 3:00 p.m. begin to waltz and hum with the bag until 9:00 p.m. Lay down your bag and set your alarm for 10:00 p.m. Get up, pick up your bag, and sing every song you have ever heard. INGENUITY TEST

This year is just wizzing by!
So I have had a bit of a setback.......apparently i have screwed my ankle up, can't really walk on it. Dr sent me for xrays and it is not broken-most likely tendon or ligament. Not really sure how i did it. Went running thursday night- took a step and owwwwwwwwwwwwww hurt but it went away and by sunday felt ok to try again. A bit into the run and oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww well that was the end of that--just call me hopalong.....that's what i get for trying to be active-back to sitting on my ass i guess.....
that's about it......

Carrie and i are still running(run/walk) we have gone to 2 with the runners den and done the required homework also woohoo....off to do one this morning also.

so.................on the running front. Carrie and I went to our first night of run/walk at the runners den. We did it! woohoo and even more impressive we went out again today, holy crap am i ever out of shape!

work tonight, work tomorrow night, then hopefully will be able to go again on sunday before we up our times on tuesday night.

Just noticed how long it has been since I have written something....bad blogger that I am! Not much going on though....still living in reno chaos, kids are the same: soccer done now into the land of lacrosse and field hockey...work is work....Darren is Darren....I visited some friends in Hamilton...not the nicest place to visit but had a blast anyway. Did get 2 layouts picked for the Basic Grey gallery.....extended one guest DT gig (Lovebug) and did another for a different site(Scraphoria).
That is about it...................................did miss seeing Carol when she was over though.

so we now have possession of the new house and it is uglier than i remember, good lord what have we gotten ourselves into?? check out the carpet.

They so thoughtfully also tried to match the carpet to this lovely paint color in the living room and dining room.We have already ripped out all the carpet, taken the kitchen cabinetsout and torn down the fake brick on the fireplace. The hardwood has been ordered but will take 6 weeks and i am off to order the new kitchen cabinets today. the house also has these hideous intercoms throughout the house which will need to be taken out and patched, even in the bathroom.....speaking of the bathroom look at this

my midlife crisis........

for awhile now I have babbling on about how Ineed a new job/career but now I reallythink I want one! I love my job-the having babies part- but the rest is killing me. I hate working nights, I hate working 12 hrs,I hate the politics of working where I work...aaaarrrrrgh. what to do what to do???? I do however like the money and the time off.....hmmm I think I need to win the lottery. Anyhow, if anyone has an idea as to what i could do let me know. I have a few ideas but will have to do a bit more research...................or perhaps this is my midlife crisis and it will pass.

it finally caught me

so i managed to fight the flu off...or so i though. Friday i went to work, feeling ok, slight headache by the end of work but that is the norm lateley. Came home feeling tired so went to bed early.....fast forward to 3am awake and freakin' freezing, shaking I remember being cold but apparently i was "on fire" and slightly delerious according to darren. I yelled a few things, woke up feeling like crap and progressed from there. Needless to say i did not go to work saturday night and there were some not so happy people but believe me i would rather be at work than feeling like crap like i did. Today i am congested but the fever seems to have broke....or so i think-- according to suzie it rears it's ugly head again jsut when you think it is gone.
we are still going back and forth on the flooring and now appear to be back onto laminate.
Also having some issues with painting- I really can't justify paying some guy $3000+ to paint our new place. the claw will be back, i may try spraying though......

so it would appear that I am still fighting off the evil sickness....Matthew however is not so lucky. He woke at 5 this morning barking like a seal-if he was younger i would say croup-poor kid-poor me! He always seems to get sick when i have a million things to do...oh well it will be a fun filled day full of nothing......he is a typical sick "boy/man" whiney, pathetic in fact, "wo is me" you would think he was on his last breath. Taryn sick is completely different, she parks herself on the couch with a blanket, juice, book, doll and remote and is good to go.......

starting to feel yucky, i have been fighting it off for a while now but apparently this is the downward spiral....Taryn had a fever last night and matthew had a cough this morning so you know it is heading my way....

so I was extremely excited to do my Guest DT gig for my fave lovebug for 4 months and now I have been asked by another online team to be guest designer for a month-how cool. I will post more info when I know.

there is a challenge now to do a BOM (book of me) at Lovebug. Here is my title page-notice how i managed to do it without a pic of me, hahahha.

We think we have picked our floor for out new house.....think being the operative word. This time we are going with hardwood instead of laminate, leary at first because of the scratches from Row and the kids but we are thinking about an "oiled" hardwood which means it does not have that super glossy look so you don't notice the scratches if there are any....we hope. It is twice as much as laminate but looks so nice it is hard to not get it......ooooooh what's that.......me hemmoraging money.......think we have a tentative layout for the kitchen too-all depends on exact measurements when we get in there.

this weekend was a wet one! It rained saturday for Matthew's soccer game and again sunday for Taryn's- i was a drowned rat.
Need to really start to get ready to move-order dumpster for new house, move all utilities etc.....tonight have shower for some of the girls at work...more to follow.....so much to do so little time.........
Am starting a bom (book of me-for all you non-scrappers) not sure how this will go but hopefully will make me step outside my box.....

to pack or not to pack

in a quandry as to wether or not i start to pack now. I don't want to pack too soon and then have to go on the hunt to find stuff but then i also don't want to wait too long........If anyone watches the newshour..sunday night Mike McCardle did a spot which was about my nephew Jackson and his attempts at shooting hoops--so very cute.

it's official

It is official! we have now sold our place and bought a new house. All the subjects on both places have now been removed. We take possesion on the 28th of Feb and they take possession of ours on March 14th so we have a few weeks to rip out the ugly carpet etc.

ok so is it sold or not?

apparently when you buy or sell a house certain criteria need to be met....why does it take so damn long to get it all figured out??!! hopefully by tomorrow it will all be done and I can start dealing with the fact that I have to pack all this stuff!! I am quite enjoying my finished house though...and after 3 yrs of waiting it got finished in 1 week!! it has also-amazingly-stayed clean!

1st open house---offers----sold!

almost.......

almost done that is! We have been working so hard all week trying to finish up the house before the open house on SUNDAY! I now refer to my hand as the claw as it is swollen and so very sore from all the painting. The new carpet looks so good! The tiling is all finished and grouted. We went the extra step and also put laminate in the basement-looks great also. Today i am going around and doing all the touch ups with paint. This afternoon all of the baseboard should be finished and then it is just a matter of hanging the towel holders etc and cleaning cleaning cleaning. I am pissed i couldn't get tomorrow off and i went about it through the proper channels-shift trade no luck so then asked for vacation......denied! Apparently I now have to do what everyone else does and call in sick next time i need a day off.

i hate taupe!!!!

so i have spent the last 5 days painting....our bathroom, bedroom, mainfloor and all the trim work. my hands are killing me!!! we had to paint the bathroom a taupe color to hide the ugly pinkish tiles, how boring is that!!
saturday i took a break and went to a fantastic class with Ali edwards, got some great ideas. Small world-ended up knowing so many of the people there. Also managed to start no finish two great mini albums.
worked last night so not really feeling like picking up that paintbrush but duty calls---wish me luck.

somewhat exciting news......

Did I peak anyones interest yet?
There is this cute cape cod house in our neighborhood which went up for sale, somehow I talked Darren into looking at it and then..........we put an offer in.....which was accepted!! now all we need to do is sell this place which means work, work, work to finish all the unfinished reno things. eeeeeeek!
The house is great on the outside, great location across street from friends, next door to one of Taryn's best friends. Backs onto park......sounds perfect! One tiny issue.....inside is hideous! Brown mottled shag hideous, blue toilet, turquoise tub hideous, ugly white cabinets with brown inlay pattern hideous so there will be a bunch of things we need to do before we even move in meaning rip out that carpet(they had cats so since Darren is deathly allergic no argument there. It also needs a new kitchen so we will have to do it at the same time as the floor to get a good flow......
Wish us luck as we still need to close and sell here before it is 100% official.

I hope that everyone had a great christmas and is starting the new year off right. We had a fantastic time up at Big White. The kids loved skiing and snowboarding and now that is all they want to do. When i get organized i will post some pictures. I had to work Jan 1 and today so New Years for me meant bed at 10:30, how sad is that? It used to be that I didn't go out till 10:30 now in bed by 10:30....yikes!
My new years resolutions are the same as every other year........get organized, lose weight......
For those that scrapbook i have some exciting news....well i think so at least. I am going to be a guest designer for Lovebug scrapbooking(an online store).
